Topping Mini 500 speaker amplifier (Image: Topping)
The Topping Mini 500 was launched yesterday (October 20) in the international market and mainland China. The M500 is Topping’s new speaker amplifier, positioned one tier above the Topping M300. Its key features include support for both stereo and mono operation, balanced XLR connectivity, and an output power of 500 W into 2 Ω. Full details of Topping’s latest release are provided below.
Designed for bookshelf speakers, the Topping Mini 500 can deliver up to 500 W in mono mode and 250 W in stereo mode. In addition, the Mini 500 can operate as an integrated amplifier or as a power amplifier when connected to a preamplifier.
The Mini 500 features a fully balanced signal transmission architecture and a Class D amplification circuit. Its rear panel includes balanced XLR and 6.35 mm TRS inputs, as well as single-ended (SE) RCA connectivity.
Another notable feature of Topping’s new amplifier is its 12 V trigger, which allows the system to be switched on and off with a single command. Further details about the Mini 500’s features are provided below.

The Mini 500 uses a BTL (Bridge-Tied Load) architecture for its stereo output. In this configuration, two amplification channels work together to drive a single speaker. According to Topping, this implementation provides precise, controlled reproduction during complex passages in symphonic works with wide dynamic variations.
The Mini 500’s maximum output amplitude in stereo mode is 92 Vpp (peak-to-peak voltage) into 8 Ω. According to the manufacturer, this capability delivers “deep, firm, and powerful bass, with a fast and precise transient response.”
In mono mode, the Topping Mini 500 can deliver 500 W into 2 Ω (THD+N < 10%). Combining two Mini 500 units makes it possible to build a dual-mono system with higher output power, improved channel separation, and a better soundstage.

A switch on the rear panel allows the Mini 500 to alternate between integrated amplifier and power amplifier modes. The power amplifier mode is labeled “BYPASS,” as it allows direct signal pass-through. The integrated amplifier mode is labeled “VOL,” as it allows the volume level to be adjusted using the knob.
Note that selecting “BYPASS” fixes the output volume at its maximum setting.
A switch on the rear panel of the Mini 500 allows users to alternate between mono and stereo modes. It is located next to the BYPASS/VOL switch, on the right-hand side when viewing the amplifier from the rear.

The rear panel of the Topping Mini 500 includes balanced XLR and 6.35 mm TRS inputs, along with a set of single-ended RCA inputs.

The front panel features an audio source selector switch, making it easy to select the input when connecting various DACs, CD players, and preamplifiers.

When the switch on the front panel of the Mini 500 is set to “TRIG,” the amplifier switches on as soon as the connected DAC or preamplifier is activated. If the switch is left in the “OFF” position, the Mini 500 must be switched on manually.
