Effect Audio Solo Carrying Case (Image: Vitor Valeri / Hi-Fi Hub)
The Effect Audio Solo Carrying Case is a storage case for in-ear monitor (IEM) earphones that uses a pressure-fit closure. The case is made of leather and features a velvet lining on the inner sides, but its main highlight is the false bottom, which allows you to store earphone accessories and cables. Below are my impressions after using it in my daily routine.
The Solo Carrying Case is not only beautiful, but also very well made. It is a pleasure to handle. The leather is soft, and the fit of the lid is so precise that it creates noticeable resistance both when removing and when placing the lid back on.

There are no visible burrs or imperfections in the internal divisions and stitching. The gold Effect Audio logo is a highlight in itself and immediately caught my attention.
The false bottom fits perfectly against the walls and the base of the upper compartment designed to store accessories. As a result, the cable does not slide around when I store my earphones.

The feature that most caught my attention and convinced me to buy the Solo Carrying Case is its two-level design: one level for the earphones and another for storing ear tips, an earwax cleaning tool, and Effect Audio’s ConX connector set, which allows you to swap connectors, such as changing from 2-pin to MMCX.

The portability of the Solo Carrying Case is not particularly good, as it has a significantly larger volume than a typical case. It is perfect for storing your IEMs on a desk or inside a drawer, but carrying it in a pocket is, in my opinion, impossible.
The Solo Carrying Case has a diameter of 10 cm and a height of 6 cm, while the JH Audio case measures 8 cm × 4.5 cm. However, since the JH Audio case is made of aluminum, it is heavier than the Effect Audio case.

The positive aspect of the Effect Audio case’s size is the ample space it provides for storing the cable with minimal twisting. This tends to increase cable durability and prevents excessive bends once the cable develops some “memory”.
Effect Audio offers a name engraving service on the base of the Solo Carrying Case for an additional cost of US$10. You can see the result in the image below.

The Effect Audio Solo Carrying Case offers excellent value for money considering its premium materials and careful construction. On the Effect Audio website, the case costs US$39, with an additional US$10 if you choose to engrave your name or a custom phrase.
