iBasso DC-Tonfa MagSafe Case Now Sold Separately

The case for the DC-Tonfa drew considerable attention when iBasso launched its new DAC dongle. The reason is the presence of a magnet on the back of the case that is compatible with Apple’s MagSafe. However, because the product was developed in collaboration with the Japanese retailer e☆Earphone, the Tonfa case was initially released exclusively with the device. Fortunately, iBasso has now made the case available for customers to purchase separately.

Before discussing the case, I believe it is important to briefly introduce the iBasso DC-Tonfa, which includes the sought-after case in the box.

A Brief Introduction to the iBasso DC-Tonfa

The iBasso DC-Tonfa was originally released exclusively in Japan. This was due to the collaboration with the Japanese retailer e☆Earphone in the development of the product, as previously reported by Hi-Fi Hub.

However, approximately one month after the DC-Tonfa debuted in Japan, iBasso decided to launch it in the Chinese market. In addition, in early August, the company made its new R2R DAC dongle available through its official store on AliExpress.

One week after its international launch, the DC-Tonfa’s case became available for separate purchase through iBasso’s official store on AliExpress.

The iBasso DC-Tonfa Case

Available only in black, the iBasso DC-Tonfa case is made of leather and features a built-in magnet. The magnet allows the DAC dongle to be attached to a MagSafe-compatible iPhone or to magnetic cases designed for Android smartphones.

The first thing that iBasso dongle users thought of when they saw the DC-Tonfa case was whether it could be used with other models. I believe this is indeed possible, as the differences in dimensions among the DC-Tonfa, DC-Elite, and Nunchaku are relatively small. See the dimensions below.
