Today (the 8th), the coaxial cable from the FiiO Trust interconnect cable lineup was launched. If you’re not familiar with it, this is a range of affordable yet quality cables designed to connect DACs, amplifiers (amps), Digital Audio Players (DAPs), smartphones, and more. All of them feature a flexible PVC jacket with polyester, along with shielding against EMI and RFI interference.

Nothing beyond the essentials: FiiO Trust coaxial cable promises quality at low prices

Priced from US$ 9.88 to US$ 12.10, depending on length, the coaxial cable in the FiiO Trust line (series) highlights the following features:

  • Dual-layer jacket with flexible PVC and braided polyester mesh
  • Silver-plated OFC copper conductors
  • Connectors with a single-piece injection-molded plastic housing
  • Curved connector design
  • 75-ohm characteristic impedance
  • Flame-retardant PVC jacket

With the exception of impedance, the entire Trust series shares the same qualities listed above. Currently, the following cables are available for purchase:

  • FiiO Trust 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm TRRS (50 cm, 1 m, and 1.5 m)
  • FiiO Trust Coaxial to Coaxial (20 cm, 80 cm, and 1.5 m)
  • FiiO Trust RCA to RCA (50 cm, 1 m, and 1.5 m)
  • FiiO Trust USB-C to Lightning (10 cm, 80 cm, 1.5 m)
  • FiiO Trust USB-C to USB-C (10 cm, 80 cm, 1.5 m)

Why 75-ohm impedance?

According to FiiO, the coaxial cable’s 75-ohm impedance “reduces interference from external signals,” helping to “decrease losses and distortion.”

Besides impedance, what else helps reduce interference?

According to FiiO, the Trust line’s coaxial cable “features three layers of shielding—conductive graphite tape + shielding braid + aluminum foil—effectively isolating interference.”

Build quality and durability of the FiiO Trust cables

All cables in FiiO’s Trust lineup do not use glue or screws thanks to the use of injection-molded connectors. Plastic injection molding allows parts to be shaped quickly and at low cost, while also enabling more ergonomic designs. Each connector features curves that provide a more secure grip when connecting the cable to equipment—something that can make a difference with coaxial and RCA cables, for example.

To make the cables durable without sacrificing flexibility, FiiO chose a “highly elastic PVC” combined with a braided polyester mesh. According to FiiO, each wire core uses “500D nylon fibers,” which provide a “significant increase in resistance to twisting and pulling.”

Testing to ensure quality

According to FiiO, Trust series cables were rigorously tested to ensure product quality. Each cable underwent:

  • 5,000 plug-and-unplug cycles
  • Salt spray testing
  • Hanging weight testing
