The NEST Pod JM21 was officially launched today (May 12) in mainland China. It is a case designed for the FiiO JM21 Digital Audio Player (DAP), which has already been reviewed by Hi-Fi Hub. The accessory replicates the appearance of the iPod and, when combined with the Pod Mode app, delivers a nostalgic experience for users who once owned Apple’s iconic music player. Check out all the details about this new accessory from FiiO below.

Update (May 19): The NEST Pod JM21 is now available on the international market for US$10.51 and can be purchased through the official FiiO store on AliExpress.

JM21 gets an iPod-inspired case

FiiO developed a case for its JM21 DAP that recreates the look of Apple’s iPod music player. When paired with the NEST Pod JM21 and the Pod Mode app, introduced through the JM21’s firmware version 1.1.1 update, the overall experience becomes significantly more immersive.

Why FiiO launched the Nest Pod

According to FiiO, many fans had hoped the company would release a DAP with “a strong retro atmosphere.” Although the company confirmed that it is developing a new iPod-inspired Digital Audio Player, the following explanation was provided in the announcement:

“The development of a good product requires sufficient time to mature, and your nostalgia should not be burdened by such a long wait. Therefore, we decided to first release this Nest Pod protective case, designed specifically for your JM21 player.”

NEST Pod JM21 construction and materials

The NEST Pod JM21 case is made of polycarbonate, a thermoplastic material known for its high resistance to physical impact. According to FiiO, the cutouts for the ports and buttons were engineered with high precision to ensure a “perfect fit.”
