Questyle QCC Dongle Pro2 launched with Bluetooth 6.1

The QCC Dongle Pro2 was launched in mainland China last Thursday (July 23). The second-generation “Pro” version of Questyle’s Bluetooth dongle introduces the latest Bluetooth technologies. Its key highlights include Bluetooth 6.1, the LHDC codec, and support for LE Audio and Auracast. These upgrades provide greater connection stability, lower latency, and broader compatibility with next-generation wireless devices.

Key differences between the QCC Dongle Pro2 and its predecessor

The adoption of Bluetooth 6.1 in the QCC Dongle Pro2 promises improved power efficiency and a more stable connection. By comparison, the first-generation QCC Dongle Pro was based on Bluetooth 5.4.

Regarding audio codecs, the only addition in the new generation is support for LHDC. The original QCC Dongle Pro already supported aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC.

Physically, the new model differs only by the “Pro2” branding and its gold-plated USB-C connector.

QCC Dongle Pro2 and the second-generation Qualcomm S5 Sound Platform

Questyle states in its promotional materials that the QCC Dongle Pro2 is powered by the second-generation Qualcomm S5 Sound Platform. However, Qualcomm’s official documentation indicates that this platform supports Bluetooth 5.4 only.

If the QCC Dongle Pro2 indeed implements Bluetooth 6.1, it is likely that Questyle has access to a revised version of the Qualcomm S5 audio chipset.

Who is the QCC Dongle Pro2 for?

The QCC Dongle Pro2 can benefit users of iPhone, Mac, iPad, Windows PCs, as well as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles. In these use cases, it expands the range of supported Bluetooth audio codecs while also improving connection stability.

Apple MFi certification

Thanks to its Apple MFi certification, the QCC Dongle Pro2 is expected to remain compatible with future updates to iOS, Apple’s operating system for the iPhone.

No driver installation required

The QCC Dongle Pro2 does not require driver installation, allowing it to work seamlessly with devices such as the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

To use the dongle with devices other than smartphones, the Bluetooth headphones must first be paired through an iPhone or an Android smartphone. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Install the Questyle app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Step 2: Connect the QCC Dongle Pro2 to your smartphone.

Step 3: Pair your Bluetooth headphones using the Questyle app.

Step 4: Disconnect the QCC Dongle Pro2 from the smartphone and connect it to your PS5 or Nintendo Switch.

Can the QCC Dongle Pro2 be used for voice calls?

Yes. The QCC Dongle Pro2 allows users to make voice calls with Bluetooth headphones equipped with a microphone. This is particularly useful for PS5 and Nintendo Switch users who rely on in-game voice chat.

In addition, the calling capability improves the audio quality of online meetings when using notebooks, tablets, and smartphones.

Is the QCC Dongle Pro2’s latency low enough for gaming?

Yes. During FPS gameplay, the QCC Dongle Pro2 keeps sounds such as footsteps and gunfire virtually synchronized with the on-screen action. Even the first-generation model was considered to offer good latency performance, according to Louis from Headfonics.

Louis wrote the following in his review of the original QCC Dongle Pro:

“If you use the Low Latency codec, latency is virtually nonexistent. The low-latency codec can be selected from the menu within the Questyle application.

Even when using the aptX Adaptive codec, you can still switch the QCC Dongle Pro to Low Latency mode within the app.”
