The HE6 REMASTERED and SVANAR WIRELESS 2 were announced last Thursday (May 28) by headphone manufacturer HIFIMAN. The announcement was made during the company’s product launch event held in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, China. The standout product was undoubtedly the over-ear headphone inspired by the first-generation HE6, originally released in 2012 and still highly regarded by many audiophiles today.
Update (July 25): The HIFIMAN HE6 REMASTERED is now available from HIFIMAN’s official store on AliExpress.
The new driver used in the HE6 REMASTERED incorporates HIFIMAN’s proprietary nanometer-thickness diaphragm technology. According to the company, production of the original HE6 driver has resumed, but with enhancements based on more recent technologies developed in-house.
Despite the improvements made to the driver, the new version of the HE6 remains just as demanding as the original model in terms of amplification requirements. Its sensitivity is only 83.5 dB, while its impedance is rated at 50 ohms. That said, HIFIMAN stated that the HE6 REMASTERED “requires high-end amplification to fully reveal its potential.”

Below is a screenshot illustrating the differences in frequency response between the original HE6 (HE6 OG) and the HE6 REMASTERED.

HIFIMAN chose to equip the HE6 REMASTERED with the new ergonomic headband structure adopted by models released in 2026. As a result, comfort has been improved compared to the original HE6 (OG version).

According to HIFIMAN, the sound quality of the SVANAR WIRELESS 2 has been significantly improved. The DAC employed is based on an R2R architecture, but it is not the same implementation used in the first-generation TWS model. The second-generation SVANAR WIRELESS adopts the Himalaya PRO DAC, which utilizes twice the number of resistors found in the previous chip.

The second-generation SVANAR WIRELESS supports Sony’s LDAC Bluetooth audio codec, which can achieve bitrates of up to 990 kbps. Users with compatible Huawei smartphones can also take advantage of the L2HC codec, which supports bitrates of up to 1,920 kbps.
