FiiO LINK: Premium Cables Launch at Affordable Prices

The FiiO LINK cable lineup was launched today (May 27) in mainland China. Compared to the FiiO TRUST lineup, the FiiO LINK cables feature more premium materials. The main highlights are the aluminum alloy connectors and the high-purity single-crystal copper conductors.

Premium materials for those seeking higher quality at an affordable price

Despite using premium materials, the FiiO LINK cable lineup remains within an affordable price range for many consumers. Prices range from 69 yuans (US$10.17) to 399 yuans (US$58.79), depending on the cable type and length. For comparison, the FiiO TRUST cables range from 13 yuans (US$2) to 70 yuans (US$11).

Please note that the prices mentioned above apply to the Chinese market. Retail prices in the international market are typically higher. With that said, below are the characteristics of each material used in the FiiO LINK cable lineup.

Metal connectors for a more robust construction

The connectors used in the FiiO LINK cables are made of aluminum alloy. The addition of metal to the cable construction already gives the product a more premium appearance compared to the TRUST lineup, which uses plastic injection molding. In addition, the connectors feature precision CNC machining and anodized finishing.

Another noteworthy detail is the gold plating used on the USB cables in the FiiO LINK lineup, something not found in the TRUST cables. However, the RCA and 3.5 mm connectors are gold-plated in both product lines.

It is important to mention that, similar to the FiiO TRUST cables, the FiiO LINK lineup also features curved connector housings designed to provide a more secure grip when connecting the cables to audio equipment, an aspect that can make a noticeable difference in products such as RCA cables.

High-purity copper conductors

The FiiO LINK cable lineup uses high-purity 6N (99.9999%) single-crystal copper conductors with silver plating. Compared to the TRUST series, which uses OFC (oxygen-free copper), this represents an interesting upgrade.

Cable purity levels are indicated using the “N” classification system. For example, OFC cables typically have 99.99% purity, corresponding to 4N. OCC (Ohno Continuous Casting) cables, on the other hand, can reach up to 7N, or 99.99998% purity.

Jacket and shielding similar to the FiiO TRUST cables

Like the FiiO TRUST cables, the FiiO LINK lineup uses “highly elastic flame-retardant PVC” and a “polyester braided mesh.” According to the manufacturer, each wire core also incorporates “500D nylon fibers,” which “significantly improve resistance to twisting and stretching.” These materials provide excellent durability while maintaining cable flexibility.

To reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI), the FiiO LINK cables use nearly the same shielding configuration as the TRUST lineup. According to the product specifications, they feature “dual shielding composed of graphene aluminum foil and tinned copper braided mesh.”

Tests to ensure quality and prevent failures

The FiiO LINK cables also underwent the same testing procedures as the TRUST lineup to prevent issues during long-term use. According to the manufacturer, each cable passed the following tests:

• Salt spray test
• Bend resistance test
• Suspension (load-bearing) test
• Vibration test
• Compression test
• High-temperature test
• Oxidation resistance test
