FiiO launches Jade Audio LEVEL 1, a 600W Stereo Amplifier

The FiiO Jade Audio LEVEL 1 was launched today (27) in mainland China. It is a speaker amplifier whose main highlights include a maximum output power of 600W (2 × 300W), a subwoofer output, and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition, due to its compact form factor, it can be used on a desktop alongside a pair of bookshelf speakers. See below for details on this new release.

LEVEL 1: an affordable, compact, and high-power speaker amplifier

The LEVEL 1 is a speaker amplifier priced in the ~$100 range. It features a compact design, with dimensions comparable to a laptop. Its maximum output power reaches 600W at 4 ohms when both channels are combined (2 × 300W).

Equipped with a Texas Instruments TPA3255 amplifier chip, the LEVEL 1 delivers high efficiency with low distortion. It is important to note that this is a Class D amplification system.

The amplification circuit of the LEVEL 1

The amplification chip used in the LEVEL 1 is the Texas Instruments TPA3255, which employs Class D amplification. It is mounted on a six-layer PCB with thick copper traces and a gold-plated finish. The power inductors are encapsulated, ensuring greater signal transmission stability as well as improved output efficiency.

The capacitors adopted in the LEVEL 1 are sourced from globally recognized manufacturers. For this amplifier, FiiO selected components from the German brand WIMA, as well as models from the Japanese manufacturers Nichicon and ELNA. According to FiiO, this combination allows for further refinement of sound quality.

Physical controls for bass and treble adjustment

The LEVEL 1 features rotary knobs for adjusting bass and treble.

For more advanced frequency control during equalization, it is also possible to connect to the FiiO Control app. This allows the use of a 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ) or switching between preset EQ profiles. Note that the connection to the FiiO Control app is established via Bluetooth or USB using a smartphone.

Subwoofer (SW) and PRE outputs

The LEVEL 1 includes an SW output that enables connection to an active subwoofer, allowing the formation of a 2.1 system with improved low-frequency performance.

When using the “PRE” output, the LEVEL 1 functions as a preamplifier for connecting to more powerful external power amplifiers.

Bluetooth receiver with LDAC support

With Bluetooth reception capability, the LEVEL 1 can receive wireless signals from smartphones and PCs. The supported codecs include SBC, AAC, and LDAC.

Considering that the LEVEL 1 features Bluetooth, it likely includes a DAC chip to convert the digital Bluetooth signal into analog. However, FiiO does not specify which DAC is used in this desktop amplifier.

External power supply

The LEVEL 1 uses an external power supply with a barrel connector. The package includes a 48V/5A power adapter; however, it limits the amplifier’s output power to 240W (2 × 120W) at 4 ohms. To unlock the amplifier’s full potential, it is necessary to purchase a separate 53V/12A power supply.

The LEVEL 1 was launched in mainland China at a price of 799 yuan (approximately US$117). The release date and pricing for the international market have not yet been disclosed, but they are typically higher than in the Chinese market.
