The Moondrop EVO 2 (II) has been launched in mainland China. The second generation of the EVO TWS Bluetooth ear hooks for IEMs (In-Ear Monitors) features a custom controller chip developed by the manufacturer itself, the MOONDROP TWS-01. Its highlights include support for a parametric equalizer (PEQ), modular connectors (2-pin and MMCX), the LDAC codec, and 15 hours of battery life. Below, you can find all the details about Moondrop’s latest release.
Update (September 2): The Moondrop EVO 2 (II) is now available through Moondrop’s official store on AliExpress.
Moondrop has implemented several improvements in the second generation of its TWS Bluetooth ear hooks for IEMs, the EVO 2 (II). One of the biggest criticisms from users of the original EVO (OG) was its battery life, which lasted only between three and four hours. The EVO 2 now promises up to 15 hours of battery life.
Another change is support for an app that allows users to make adjustments. The Moondrop EVO 2 supports the Moondrop app, available for smartphones and on the web (via a browser). This gives the wireless accessory for In-Ears access to the “Online Interactive DSP,” which includes a 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ).
Like the recently launched FiiO UTWS17, the EVO 2 also features modular connectors, allowing users to switch between 2-pin and MMCX. Below, you can see everything that has changed from the first to the second generation of the Moondrop EVO.

The first-generation Moondrop EVO used standard Bluetooth and DAC/amp chips, resulting in high power consumption. Although this solution provided good sound quality, many users complained about the product’s battery life. To address this issue, Moondrop decided to equip the EVO 2 with a digital amplifier chip and a custom Bluetooth controller, the MOONDROP TWS-01.
The digital amplifier (amp) is designed for amplification systems used in mobile products. According to Moondrop, the amplification chip produces lower noise and delivers high output power even at a low supply voltage. In addition, the amplifier can achieve efficiency of up to 90%.
As for the MOONDROP TWS-01, the Bluetooth controller chip developed by the EVO 2 manufacturer itself, it is manufactured using a 22 nm process. By combining the TWS-01 with the digital amplifier, Moondrop achieved longer battery life while also providing a low noise floor and a darker background.
The EVO 2 offers up to 15 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The charging case provides three additional charges, equivalent to another 45 hours of battery life. The TWS Bluetooth ear hooks take approximately two hours to charge.

The EVO 2 allows users to apply equalization using a 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ) and Auto EQ. This is possible thanks to the TWS Bluetooth ear hooks’ support for the Moondrop app and its “Online Interactive DSP” platform.
Through the “Online Interactive DSP,” users can download equalization (EQ) profiles created by other users on the platform. In addition, you can upload an equalization profile created using the 10-band PEQ. However, if you do not want to adjust frequencies manually with the equalizer, you can simply use the automatic equalization provided by the “Auto EQ” feature.

Another feature of the Moondrop app for the EVO 2 is the ability to configure touch gestures used to execute commands. For example, you can determine what happens with a single tap, double tap, or press-and-hold gesture.
Unfortunately, the Moondrop EVO 2 does not support Qualcomm’s aptX Bluetooth audio codecs. It now supports only LDAC, LC3, LHDC, AAC, and SBC. This is likely due to Moondrop’s use of its custom Bluetooth chip.

When making calls with the EVO 2, two microphones help implement ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation). This filters ambient noise so that only the user’s voice is transmitted. Note that this feature may introduce some distortion to the sound of the voice.
Although it is not ideal, the EVO 2 features a “gaming mode” that reduces audio transmission latency. According to Moondrop, the latency is 60 ms. To activate the feature, simply tap the body of the TWS Bluetooth ear hooks four times.
To facilitate connection with a variety of IEMs, the EVO 2 allows users to easily swap the connectors that attach to the In-Ears. Users can switch between 2-pin, MMCX, and FitEar connectors.
Unfortunately, all three connectors are not included in the box; only the 2-pin connector is included. The MMCX and FitEar connectors will be released at a later date and sold separately.
