The Tangzu Li Yuan Remake Edition was launched today (October 7) internationally and in mainland China. The Yuan Li was the first earphone model released by Tangzu, and the manufacturer has now introduced a redesigned version. The new model marks the fifth anniversary of the company’s founding and features an aluminum housing, a dynamic driver, and a balanced sound signature.

Li Yuan Remake Edition and Tangzu’s fifth anniversary

The Li Yuan was the first in-ear monitor (IEM) released by Tangzu. Introduced in 2021, the same year the company was founded, the IEM with dynamic drivers received a redesigned version five years later.

The Li Yuan Remake Edition retains its metal housing and the philosophy of delivering balanced sound. In addition, its faceplate features ripples and swirls representing the movement of water.

The new design of the Li Yuan Remake Edition

For the Li Yuan Remake Edition, Tangzu used an aluminum alloy with a matte finish achieved through anodizing and sandblasting. The faceplate features raised patterns whose appearance changes depending on the angle of the light.

The dynamic driver used in the Tangzu Li Yuan Remake Edition

Tangzu equipped the Li Yuan Remake Edition with a dynamic driver (DD) featuring a 10 mm diaphragm. The diaphragm is made of PEEK (polyether ether ketone) and PU (polyurethane), with a DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating.

PEEK provides the rigidity required for a good transient response. PU, in turn, provides greater elasticity for bass reproduction. Finally, the DLC coating helps reduce the driver’s nonlinear distortion.

Tuning continues to emphasize balance across the frequency range

The tuning of the Tangzu Li Yuan Remake Edition was intended to preserve the balance between bass, midrange, and treble that the manufacturer sought to achieve in the first generation of the IEM.

Tangzu described the sound of the Tangzu Li Yuan Remake Edition as follows:

“The treble is transparent and smooth, with effective harmonic suppression and no unpleasant sibilance. The midrange is natural and solid, with clear separation between vocals and instrumental accompaniment. Bass levels are moderate, combining elasticity and low-frequency extension with well-defined beats and a complete harmonic structure.”
