The Pentaconn COREIR Ti ALLOY was announced in Japan last Monday (July 7). The newest addition to the COREIR ear tip lineup features a titanium alloy core. This new model builds on the success of previous versions made from brass, aluminum, and stainless steel. Below are the details of Pentaconn’s latest release, introduced as the brand celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026.

COREIR Ti ALLOY promises greater resolution and fuller sound

The COREIR Ti ALLOY represents the third generation of Pentaconn’s COREIR ear tip series. The new model incorporates a titanium alloy stem, which, according to the manufacturer, delivers higher resolution and greater body to the sound.

Why use metal in the ear tip stem?

The purpose of incorporating metal into the ear tip stem is to minimize undesirable acoustic effects after the sound exits the IEM’s nozzle. Depending on the material used to guide the sound, the behavior of reflections and energy absorption changes.

According to Pentaconn, the developer of the COREIR series, the metal-core ear tips were designed with the following objective:

“To deliver a soundstage and level of sound reproduction comparable to those of IEMs equipped with metal nozzles.”

Protection against contact between the IEM nozzle and the metal stem

Because the IEM nozzle may vibrate as sound passes through it, Pentaconn incorporated a silicone cushion into the design. Essentially, this consists of a thin silicone ring that isolates the metal stem of the COREIR ear tip from the IEM nozzle.

To achieve this isolation, the metal insert extends only halfway through the stem. The remaining half, the section where the IEM nozzle is inserted, is made entirely of silicone.

Color-coded size identification

To simplify size identification, Pentaconn adopted the CMYK color system. The acronym stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). The available sizes are color-coded as follows:

S: Black
MS: Cyan
M: Yellow
L: Magenta

These colors are visible at the junction between the metal insert and the silicone portion of the COREIR stem.

COREIR Ti ALLOY compatibility

Pentaconn recommends using the COREIR Ti ALLOY with IEMs featuring a nozzle diameter between 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm. This recommendation is based on the ear tip’s 4.4 mm inner stem diameter.

The different versions of Pentaconn’s COREIR ear tip lineup

Following the success of the original COREIR ear tips, Pentaconn expanded the lineup with several variants. The current product range includes:

Pentaconn COREIR AL (Aluminum)
Pentaconn COREIR BRASS (Brass)
Pentaconn COREIR Mini (Stainless Steel) for TWS earbuds

Release date, pricing, and availability

The Pentaconn COREIR Ti ALLOY will retail in Japan for ¥2,970 (approximately US$18.39) per pair. The ear tips will be available in S, MS, M, and L sizes.

Pre-orders through the e-Earphone online store will begin on July 17, with the official release scheduled for July 24.

Note: Pentaconn COREIR ear tips are not sold exclusively in Japan. However, the Japanese retail price is lower than the pricing typically found in other international markets.
