HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku Firmware Update Adds Cassette Player UI

The HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku (4G version) received a new firmware update today (21). Four new features were added, including a cassette tape-style music player interface, along with the implementation of several bug fixes. Check out all the details below.

Update (May 25): Firmware update 1.30, which brings a cassette tape UI to the Hiby M500 x Hatsune Miku, is now available for the international market.

Update (May 30): The Wi-Fi version of the Hiby M500 x Hatsune Miku has received firmware update 1.30, which introduces a cassette tape UI. The firmware file is now available to the international public.

HiBy M500 Update Adds Cassette Tape Player Interface and More

HiBy published information about a new firmware update for the M500 (4G version) on its profile on Chinese social media platforms. Among the newly implemented features, a music player interface featuring a cassette tape animation was added. In addition, users can now disable the display of the Miku mascot on the DAP screen.

What Changed in the HiBy M500 (4G Version) With the New Firmware Update

The new firmware update for the HiBy M500 (4G version) introduces four new features and fixes several bugs. Below is the changelog for the new firmware release:

• Addition of a cassette player interface (cassette player UI);
• Implementation of Bluetooth output for FM;
• Addition of a toggle switch to enable or disable the virtual Miku mascot;
• Implementation of an option to automatically stop FM recording when Bluetooth is connected or disconnected during recording;
• Fixes for several other bugs.

Firmware Update Availability

The new firmware update for the HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku (4G version) was initially released in China. At the time of writing, the new firmware had not yet been added to HiBy’s firmware download page. Once available, users will be able to access the link to download the new update and manually install it on the DAP.

Attention: The firmware for the 4G version of the HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku is not the same as the firmware for the Wi-Fi version of the DAP.

How to Perform a Local Firmware Installation

To install the firmware locally on the HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku, follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Step 01: Download the firmware ZIP file from the firmware download page on HiBy’s website through the provided link.

Step 02: Copy the ZIP file (without opening or extracting it) to the internal storage of the HiBy M500 using a USB connection, or copy it to a microSD card.

Step 03: On the M500, open the Settings app, select “System,” and tap “System update.”

Step 04: Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Local Updates.”

Step 05: Select the ZIP file that was copied to the M500’s internal storage or to the microSD card.

Step 06: Proceed with the firmware installation and wait until the process is completed.

Released on November 15, 2025, the HiBy M500 x Hatsune Miku is a Digital Audio Player (DAP) featuring a design inspired by the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
