The Sancai Noble Brass Edition ear tips were officially launched today (30) by Tangzu. The new ear tips feature a brass layer on the inner section of the stem; however, the differences between this version and the “Stainless Steel Edition” are not limited solely to the metal used. Differences between the Sancai Noble “Brass Edition” and the “Stainless Steel Edition”

The most visible difference between the Sancai Noble “Brass Edition” and the “Stainless Steel Edition” lies in the metal used on the inner region of the ear tip stem, which alters sound absorption and reflection. However, the way this component is molded also differs.

In the Sancai “Stainless Steel Edition,” the metal surface is smooth, whereas in the “Brass Edition” it is spiral-shaped with an undulated profile. In addition, there are differences in the nozzle (bore) diameter.

The “Brass Edition” adopts a so-called “Wide Bore,” a type of ear tip that typically reduces bass emphasis and provides greater prominence to the treble. In contrast, the “Stainless Steel Edition” appears to feature a “Narrow Bore” diameter, a configuration that favors bass response while attenuating treble.

Are there similarities between the “Brass Edition” and the “Stainless Steel Edition”?

Yes. The dome of the ear tips is made from the same material and features the same textured surface, consistent with all ear tips in Tangzu’s “Sancai” line. According to the manufacturer, this design helps prevent the pressure effect caused by sealing the ear canal.
