The Snowsky Echo (not the Mini) has been officially launched for the international market and is already available through FiiO’s official store on AliExpress. The metal version of the Digital Audio Player (DAP) Echo Mini was first announced on January 28, 2026, but it was not made available outside mainland China. Slightly more than a month later, Snowsky decided to release its DAP in other countries.

Below, we present all the details about the Snowsky Echo, the metal version of the Echo Mini, and outline all the differences between these two models.

What upgrades does the Snowsky Echo offer compared to the Echo Mini?

In addition to its aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis, the Snowsky Echo introduces several upgrades compared to the Mini. Its display is larger, the DAC chip is improved, the output power is higher, and it supports in-line controls embedded in headphone cables. Although other changes are also present, these are the most significant.

Screen size and resolution

The screen size and resolution of the Snowsky Echo are slightly larger compared to those of the Echo Mini. The new DAP features a 2.39-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 222 × 480 pixels, while the Echo Mini uses a 1.99-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 170 × 320 pixels.

Metal chassis

For many users, the main change in the Echo is its metal chassis. The adoption of an aluminum-magnesium alloy body gives the DAP a more premium appearance.

For reference, the Echo Mini features a body made from ABS+PC plastic, a blend of polycarbonate and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. Although it may not appear particularly remarkable visually when holding the Digital Audio Player, it is a high-quality plastic known for its resistance to impacts and heat.

To better illustrate the differences, see the image below showing the Echo Mini and the Echo side by side.

It is important to note that, due to the adoption of a metal enclosure, the Echo became heavier. While the Echo Mini weighs only 55 g, the Echo weighs 85 g. However, even with this increase, the DAP can still be considered lightweight, and the added weight may even convey a greater sense of robustness.

DAC replacement and increased output power

The Snowsky Echo is equipped with two Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, which are superior to the CS43131 chips used in the Echo Mini. Another upgrade introduced in the Digital Audio Player is an increase in output power.

The single-ended (SE) output of the Echo now provides 120 mW at 32 ohms, while the 4.4 mm balanced output delivers 260 mW at the same impedance load.

Battery life

Due to the increased output power and the replacement of the DAC chip, the Snowsky Echo exhibits slightly higher power consumption. As a result, its battery life is approximately one hour shorter than that of the Echo Mini, reaching up to 14 hours of continuous playback, according to FiiO’s tests.

Option to disable charging

When the Echo is connected to a smartphone in USB DAC mode, it is possible to disable charging of the Digital Audio Player in order to preserve the smartphone’s battery. According to FiiO, this functionality is made possible by the ability to switch the USB Audio Class (UAC) between UAC 1.0 and UAC 2.0.

Support for in-line controls

In-line controls allows playback to be managed through the buttons integrated into headphone cables. This enables quick and convenient operation without removing the DAP from a pocket.

Bluetooth codec support

Unfortunately, Bluetooth codec support on the Snowsky Echo remains identical to that of the Echo Mini. The DAP is only capable of transmitting audio using the SBC Bluetooth codec. Many users had hoped that FiiO would add LDAC support, but this did not occur.

Storage capacity

The Echo’s internal storage (ROM) remains the same 8 GB found in the Echo Mini. Additionally, the same capacity limit for microSD cards remains: 256 GB.

Supported music file formats

Support for music file formats on the Echo is the same as on the Echo Mini. In other words, the DAP supports tracks in the following formats:

MP3, OGG, M4A, WMA, FLAC, DSD64/128/256, and WAV (24-bit / 192 kHz).

Playback screen theme animations

In addition to the cassette tape theme, the Echo can also display VU meter animations and audio visualizers on the playback screen. Users can also choose to display album artwork and song lyrics.
