The Snowsky DISC has been officially launched internationally and is now available in the FiiO store. Just over a month ago, Hi-Fi Hub reported on the launch of the new Digital Audio Player (DAP) in mainland China, and although the product appeared for sale in some online marketplaces, the company’s intention at that time was not to sell it outside its country of origin.
Below, we explain the reasons for the delay in the international launch, provide full details about the DISC, and present its official international pricing.
Due to difficulties FiiO faced in the past when carrying out product recalls in mainland China as a result of hardware defects, the company decided to adopt a two-stage launch strategy, according to the company’s founder and CEO, James Chung.
Initially, FiiO chose to make the new product available exclusively in mainland China. The company’s intention was to wait until the product’s software and hardware development processes became more mature before proceeding with an international release.
Inspired by the design of a CD player, the Snowsky DISC is a Digital Audio Player featuring a square body and a round display shaped like a Compact Disc (CD). This distinctive appearance, combined with its size and weight, has appealed to many users.

The Snowsky design team went beyond the CD player aesthetic when developing the DISC. The concept was to create a DAP compact enough to be attached to the back of a smartphone using a magnetic disc fixed with double-sided tape. Below is an example photo taken by James Chung illustrating this use case.

Connecting the DISC to a smartphone via a USB cable allows access to streaming applications such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, or Tidal. Thanks to its 1450mAh battery, which provides up to 12 hours of continuous playback, there is no need to worry about battery drain—a common issue with many USB DAC/amp “dongles.”
It is important to note that, according to Reddit user “moekhdeir,” the case sold separately for the DISC includes the magnetic disc to attach with double-sided tape.

The Snowsky DISC can be a solution for users who want to disconnect from smartphone notifications without adding noticeable weight, as it weighs only 77.2 g and allows music playback directly from a microSD card inserted into the DAP.
For comparison, the FiiO JM21 weighs 156 g and is already considered lightweight by current DAP standards. In addition, the DISC is thinner than the JM21 (1.3 cm), with a thickness of only 1.2 cm.

For users who wish to use it during workouts, the DISC has a leather case sold separately. However, the case does not include a clip for attaching it to clothing, requiring the user to place the DAP in a pocket or use an accessory to secure it to the arm or waist, for example.

According to Reddit user “P_Devil,” it is possible to store more than 22,000 songs on the Snowsky DISC. Thanks to the Ingenic X2000 System-on-a-Chip (SoC), the DAP can handle track management on high-capacity storage cards without issues.

According to Snowsky’s promotional materials, music playback on the DISC can be controlled via the Roon software. Users can issue commands from a tablet, smartphone, or PC without needing to connect a USB cable to the DAP. By installing the Roon app, users can browse, listen to, and control music playback across all supported devices.

Music playback control on the DISC using physical buttons is simple and functional. On the side, there is a play/pause button and a volume adjustment button, while the power/screen-lock button is located on the top.

With the screen on, a short press on the volume button adjusts the volume by one step per click, while a long press results in larger volume increments. When the screen is off, a long press changes its function to track forward and backward instead of volume adjustment.
Navigation is fast and smooth, with no stuttering, thanks to the Ingenic X2000 SoC and the Linux-based operating system developed in-house by FiiO. See the video below created by Reddit user “0utOftheblue.”
To make full use of the display, the DISC offers several themes for presenting information, which can be selected by the user. Some examples are shown below.

The DISC’s output power is sufficient to drive most portable headphones, including in-ear monitors (IEMs), earbuds, and on-ear models. The Snowsky DAP delivers 280 mW through the 4.4 mm balanced headphone output and 125 mW through the 3.5 mm single-ended (SE) output at 32 ohms. Even when connected to a smartphone via USB, there is no concern about power drain from the phone, as the DISC has its own internal battery.
Note that there are two gain levels to allow fine volume adjustment per click, as well as the option (with the screen off) to use long presses on the volume button to quickly change volume steps. This is particularly useful for headphones with high sensitivity and low impedance.
The Snowsky DISC Digital Audio Player (DAP) was released internationally (outside mainland China) on January 31, 2026, in Black, Pink, and Sky Blue color options, through the official FiiO store on AliExpress, at a price of USD 82.33.
