The Meze STRADA was officially launched today (21), featuring a dynamic driver (loudspeaker) and a design inspired by the LIRIC, which adopts a closed-back configuration. According to the manufacturer, the STRADA was created for “those who seek a full-bodied and enveloping sound paired with premium craftsmanship,” in addition to being built to last for decades through the use of materials and components that facilitate repairability.

Adaptation of the driver used in the 109 PRO

According to Meze, the STRADA employs the same dynamic driver implemented in the 109 PRO, with adjustments optimized for performance in a closed-back design. During its development, “each component was engineered to optimize clarity, speed, and durability,” as stated by the manufacturer.

The STRADA’s dynamic driver uses a diaphragm dome made of carbon fiber–reinforced cellulose, while its surround is composed of a semicrystalline polymer coated with beryllium through the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process. This combination of materials contributes to increased stiffness, durability, and improved transient response, according to the developer.

The grooves on the edge of the diaphragm enhance excursion control in conjunction with a stabilizer made of a copper-zinc alloy. According to Meze, these implementations prevent unwanted micro-vibrations and significantly reduce distortion.

Design inspired by the LIRIC

The design of the STRADA was inspired by the LIRIC, featuring sealed ear cups with an ebony wood finish. The headband structure and adjustment system are also identical, as is the magnetic ear pad mounting system.

However, the similarities end there, as the LIRIC employs a planar magnetic driver, whereas the STRADA is equipped with a dynamic driver. This distinction separates their levels of performance and price. The LIRIC costs more than twice the price of the STRADA.
