The Aune AR5000 MK2 was officially launched today (April 16) in mainland China. In addition to sound improvements, the second generation of the AR5000 features a headband constructed entirely of metal. This change brings renewed confidence to users of the original AR5000 (first generation), which has a well-documented issue of headband failure after only a few months of use.
One of the most significant issues with the original AR5000 is headband breakage. In the headphone’s discussion thread on the Head-Fi forum, there are numerous reports of identical cases. To address this chronic issue of the first generation, Aune opted to implement a fully metal headband in the AR5000 MK2.

Below is an image of an AR5000 with a broken headband on one side.

Compared to the first generation, the AR5000 MK2 delivers bass with greater body and depth. In addition, the treble has improved in clarity and brilliance.
As shown below, there is an increase in sub-bass (20 Hz to 60 Hz) and a slight elevation in the bass range between 60 Hz and 100 Hz. The treble is generally more prominent, with some similarities retained around 6 kHz and 9 kHz.

By combining a driver panel with a pronounced tilt angle and the ear pads, the AR5000 MK2 provides a convincing sense of spatiality. Furthermore, the open-back design contributes to a more natural and spacious sound presentation.
The cable included with the AR5000 MK2 is modular and allows for interchangeable connectors. Depending on the user’s requirements, it can be easily switched between 3.5 mm, 6.35 mm, and 4.4 mm plugs.
