The Effect Audio Solo Carrying Case is a snap-closure case designed for storing in-ear monitor (IEM) earphones. The case is made of leather and features a velvet lining on the inner side walls, but its main highlight is its false bottom, which allows the storage of earphone and cable accessories. Below, I describe my impressions after using it in my daily routine.

Premium materials and attention to the smallest details

The Solo Carrying Case is not only beautiful, but also extremely well crafted. Handling it is genuinely pleasant. The leather is soft, and the fit of the closure is so precise that it provides resistance both when removing and when placing the lid.

There are no visible burrs or imperfections in the case’s seams and internal divisions. The Effect Audio logo in gold is a highlight on its own and immediately caught my attention.

The fit of the false bottom is perfectly secured to the side walls and to the base of the upper compartment designed for storing accessories. As a result, the cable does not slide to the sides when I store my earphones.

Two-tier case: a creative and functional idea

The feature that most impressed me and ultimately convinced me to purchase the Solo Carrying Case was its two-tier design: one level dedicated to the earphones and another for storing ear tips, an earwax cleaning tool, and the Effect Audio ConX connector set, which allows, for example, swapping a 2-pin connector for an MMCX.

Portability and cable accommodation

The portability of the Solo Carrying Case is not its strongest point, as its volume is considerably larger than that of a conventional case. It is ideal for storing your IEMs on a desk or inside a drawer, but in my opinion, carrying it in a pocket is virtually impossible.

The diameter of the Solo Carrying Case is 10 cm and its height is 6 cm, whereas the JH Audio case measures 8 cm × 4.5 cm. However, since the JH Audio case is made of aluminum, it is heavier than the Effect Audio case.

The positive aspect of the larger size of the Effect Audio case is the space it provides for accommodating the cable with minimal twisting. This tends to increase cable durability and prevents the formation of excessive bends when the cable develops a certain “memory.”

Name engraving option

Effect Audio offers a name engraving service on the base of the Solo Carrying Case at an additional cost of US$10. The image below shows how the final result looks.

Conclusion

The Effect Audio Solo Carrying Case offers excellent value for money, considering its premium materials and careful construction. On the Effect Audio website, the case is priced at US$39, with an additional US$10 fee to engrave your name or any phrase you wish.
